¿Qué le ocurre a este volcán? ¿Está en erupción! La primera persona que advirtió que el volcán Cleveland de las Aleutianas estaba escupiendo cenizas fue el astronauta Jeffrey N. Williams desde la Estación Espacial Internacional.

Al mirar hacia las Islas Aleutianas en Alaska hace dos semanas, Williams percibió, fotografió e informó sobre una espectacular columna de ceniza que emanaba del volcán Cleveland.

Justo antes de que se tomara esta imagen , el volcán sufrió una breve erupción que duró unas dos horas.

El estratovolcán Cleveland es uno de los más activos de la cadena de islas de las Aleutianas . El volcán se alimenta del magma desplazado por la subducción de la placa tectónica Pacífica bajo la Norteamericana .
